ALVIN “PAPA” JOSEPH WILLIAMS, born March 21, 1921 in Wallace, Louisiana, resident of New Orleans, and World War II Army Veteran, peacefully entered into everlasting life at 90 years old on the evening of Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his home in the arms of his most loving and devoted wife, Felicia Edwards Williams. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, the late Joseph and Agnes Adams Williams, one brother, Dallas L. Williams, three brothers-in-law, Alexander Jacobs, Emile Gaudet, and Leroy Edwards, Jr., and one sister-in-law, Beverly G. Williams. Alvin proudly leaves to mourn from his marital union five sons, Dr. Alvin Lee, Johnny, Don Allen, Sr., Leroy Joseph, Michael James Williams, Sr.(Ericka), two daughters, Ethel Mae Williams Broussard (Alvin), Alice Marie Williams Robinson (Ronald), fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Marion Williams Jacobs, Clara Williams Gaudet, one sister-in-law, Simonia Edwards Milton (Archie), and most appreciated Kathryn Roussell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, as well as the Pastor, officers, and members of Second Baptist Church 6th Dist., True Gospel Ministry, other neighboring churches, and employees of the Veterans Administration, Montrel’s Bistro, and Sidney’s Creole Café are invited to pay last respects on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Second Baptist Church 6th Dist., 4218 Laurel St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70115, at 11:00 am. Visitation from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Rev. Dr. Samuel Gibbs, Jr. Officiating. Interment and Military Salute at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Hwy., Metairie, Louisiana 70003.
